Robert Maki is Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Orthopaedics, and also Section Chief in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at Tisch Cancer Institute, Mt Sinai Medical Center in New York. He trained at Dana Farber Cancer Center and worked there as well as becoming Section Chief of the Adult Sarcoma Division at MSKCC with an Appointment as Associate Professor at Cornell University, Weill Medical College.
Dr. Maki has subspecialized in sarcoma for over 15 years, with research experience for over 25 years. He has interests in sarcomas of soft tissue and bone, their biology, and has participated in clinical trials and new drug development for this diverse group of diseases. He has authored over 120 peer reviewed publications.
He has also mentored over two dozen fellows and MD, PhD students and continues to develop collaborative clinical and translational studies, with a recent focus on novel mechanisms of apoptosis and tumor initiating cells.
