Dr. Esteva is Professor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine. He currently serves as Associate Director of Clinical Investigation, Director of Breast Medical Oncology and co-Director of the Breast Cancer Disease Management Group a the Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center, New York University Langone Medical Center.
Dr. Esteva received his medical and doctorate degrees from the University of Zaragoza in his native Spain. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center (Camden, NJ). He continued on to Georgetown University Medical Center (Washington, DC) for a clinical fellowship in medical oncology at the Vincent T. Lombardi Cancer Center. After completing his fellowship training Dr. Esteva joined the faculty at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, Texas), where he rose to the rank of full Professor. He received the K23 Career Development Award from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and additional research grants from NCI, the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program, private foundations and industry.
Dr. Esteva is board certified in medical oncology, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation. He is an internationally renowned speaker and a co-author in more than 150 research articles and comprehensive reviews on breast cancer research and treatment.
